Do you need help? What is a VAT ID number?
The value added tax identification number (UID in Austria) is a logical and Europe-wide means of identifying people and businesses liable to pay VAT.
In Austria it starts with 'ATU' (the sign for the country) followed by a number with eight digits, e.g. ATU12345678 (in other countries the number might be longer).
VAT numbers are assigned to businesses automatically by the tax office. Exception: businesses that only declare their turnover and do not benefit from pre-tax deductions (i.e. small businesses) are assigned a VAT ID number on request at the responsible tax office.
